Literacy for a Lifetime

The program offers a 50% matching grant in books for every grant dollar or donated dollar used to purchase our books. For example, a $5000 purchase is matched with an additional $2500, and the organization receives $7500 in educational materials from EDC. This program can be used as often as grants or donations become available, and there is no cap on purchases. PTO/PTA funds, library Birthday Book Clubs, and state and federal grant funds are also eligible for the Literacy for a Lifetime program. The receiving organization may have full control over the selection of books.

Reach for the Stars

  • Reach for the Stars!! Is an exceptionally generous pledge-based reading incentive program sponsored by Educational Development Corporation.
  • The goal of Reach for the Stars!! Is for the participants to read, or be read to for 300 minutes over a two week period of time. This is an average of 30 minutes per day as recommended by educational experts.
  • This program is designed to benefit any organizational group, such as schools, individual classrooms, clubs, preschools, church groups, home school groups, charities, businesses and public libraries.
  • Parents and children request pledges from mentoring friends and family members to encourage kids to read.

100% of pledges returned are in the form of books or books & cash to the participants and organization.

Example #1:
50% of pledges in books to participants, 50% of pledges in books to organization. MOST POPULAR.
Example #2:
70% of pledges in books to participants, 30% of pledges in books to organization.
Example #3:
50% of pledges in books to participants, 30% of pledges in books to organization, 20% of pledges to cash to organization.

Raise Money and Kids' Reading Levels

The Usborne "Reading Is A Gift" book fair program was developed by Usborne Books to encourage reading and at the same time, raise money and/or free books for your school or organization. We understand the needs and challenges faced by organizations trying to raise funds so we've designed the program to make it both easy on sponsors and successful in reaching your fundraising goals! With the FREE book and/or cash incentives that are in place for each book fair sponsor, your fundraising options are as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Cash - fund special projects, teacher resources or extras for your students
  2. Money and books - provides the sponsor with cash and FREE books for the library
  3. FREE books - Up to 50% of retail sales in free books

Free Book Program

  • 50% of the sales in free books for book fairs over $500.00 in sales.
  • 25% of the sales in free books for book fairs between $200.00 and $500.00 in sales.
  • Minimum sales for a book fair is $200.00.

Cash Only Program

  • 25% of the sales in CASH for book fairs over $3,000.00 in sales.
  • 20% of the sales in CASH for book fairs over $2,000.00 in sales.
  • 15% of the sales in CASH for book fairs over $750.00 in sales.
  • Minimum sales for the cash only program is $750.00.

Combination Program

A percentage of cash and free books can also be divided to give your organization an opportunity to earn both. Together we can design a program that will fit your needs.
